Starter Kit Oil – Lemon

Lemon. So fresh and sweet and clean. Probably one of the most versatile oils in the starter kit. Who am I kidding, they’re all versatile!

Interestingly, lemon essential oil is cold pressed from the peels of the lemon rather than the flesh of the fruit itself so it isn’t sour tasting and doesn’t contain the same acidity like lemon juice does. It’s a great addition to water for flavoring (without added sugar) and you can even use it in place of lemon juice in recipes like salad dressings or marinades.

Lemon is great for cleaning and it is AMAZING at getting off sticky residues (like when you peel a label off and it leaves that nasty sticky gunk). It works great on its own or mixed with vinegar for a chemical free cleaner (think countertops, cutting boards etc!)

Lemon is also a registered NHP in Canada for helping to relieve the symptoms of both coughs and colds. So it’s a great one to diffuse when you’re feeling under the weather.

In addition, lemon is also invigorating and energizing, making it the perfect morning pick me up, either in the diffuser or applied topically!
